Meet Rob Witwer
Rob Witwer is the State Representative for House District 25, which encompasses the foothills of Jefferson County, west Arvada and parts of west Littleton. Rob was raised in House District 25, where he now lives with his wife of 10 years, Heather, and their three boys. Rob's oldest son recently started Kindergarten in the Jefferson County Public Schools.
In the 2006 legislative session, Rob earned a reputation as a thoughtful and effective representative for his community. He was one of only a handful of legislators who passed 100% of the bills he sponsored, all with bipartisan support. One bill, the Backcountry Access Act, was recognized statewide as an innovative approach to easing public access to hiking trails by creating legal incentives for private landowners to allow the public to use their property.
Trained as a business attorney, Rob is an assistant general counsel to a Fortune 500 company. In 2003, the Denver Business Journal named Rob to its "40 Under Forty" list of up-and-coming Colorado business leaders. In the legislature, Rob has been a strong advocate for lower taxes and reducing red tape for small business. In 2006, he has been endorsed by the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry.
A former Assistant Director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Rob has been active in nonprofit efforts locally and statewide. In 2004, he played a key role in the transaction that resulted in Jefferson County Open Space acquiring 740 acres of open space on South Table Mountain. He is a former board member of the Audubon Society of Greater Denver, the Colorado Water Trust and New Genesis homeless shelter.
Rob has a B.A. in Political Science from Amherst College (magna cum laude) and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
