Dear friends:
It has been an honor to serve you in the Colorado House of Representatives. This community is not only the place I grew up, it's the place I've chosen to raise my own family. Quite simply, there's no better or more beautiful corner of the world to call home.
House District 25 -- which is suburban, rural and semi-rural in character -- has unique needs unlike those of any other state house district in Colorado. Our expectations of government are shaped by these needs, and these expectations in turn have shaped my efforts on your behalf at the Capitol.
Here are just a few examples:
- As people who work hard for a living, we ask that government take only what taxes are absolutely necessary for the essential services of government -- and that when those services are delivered, we ask that government do so in a fiscally responsible manner.
- As mothers and fathers, we seek a fully funded and accountable school system that will give our kids the basic tools they need to compete in an increasingly competitive global environment.
- As property owners, we ask for limitations on the power of government to condemn our land for private commercial interests.
- As taxpayers, we want both our state and federal governments to reduce illegal immigration, which among other things threatens the sustainability of taxpayer-funded programs designed to benefit citizens.
- As residents of the urban-wildland interface (also known as the "red zone"), we seek efficient and responsive support for our local firefighting agencies.
- As people who have chosen to live in a place of such tremendous natural beauty, we are interested in well-crafted policies that will strike an intelligent balance between growth and sustainability.
- As citizens with common interests, we seek leaders who are committed to finding solutions to our shared challenges -- not partisanship, which corrodes our political dialogue and turns neighbors against one another.
These are some of the many issues that I have worked to address as your State Representative, but there are more, as described in this website. Please feel free to browse the site to learn more.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
